5 christian books you need to read
With summer approaching, I love sitting down to read a good book. Here's some of my favorite Christian books that are totally worth your time. All of these books have shaped and helped me grow in my faith!
Although this book is sad, The Shack is filled with wonderful conversations between a man and the Trinity. I haven't seen the movie yet, but the conversations of the book opened my eyes to the intentions of God and the relationship He wants with us. The theology is often debated, but I really enjoyed it. You have to be open to it and it definitely makes you think. It offers a really interesting depiction of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Not a Fan is about how often we make our faith just about showing up to church on Sunday. However, faith is about a relationship with Christ. We're called to be followers instead of just fans of Jesus. This book really helped me analyze my faith at it's core. If you are looking to grow in your faith and analyze how you can grow to be a true follower of Jesus this book is for you.
This book is inspired by this YouTube video that went viral. Describing the experience Bethke had with his faith, it shows how Jesus calls us to follow him rather than "a religion". Bethke goes over how religion is rituals and judgement, but how Jesus is love and grace. I LOVED this book. Some of it is just the authors personal experience and opinions, but it truly defined how I see my faith. This book is hands down my favorite Christian book.
I LOVE this book. Targeted towards women, Uninvited explores how when we live knowing we are loved by God, rejection fades away. This book has spoke so much truth into my life about what living as a Christian woman filled with God's love means. I just finished this book and read most of it during Lent. This book really helped me identify some weaknesses in my life where I truly should be turning to God and allowing him to fill me with His love. It's a must read!
This true story is heartwarming. God blesses a woman with a dream, and the story shows how God uses her life to fulfill the dream He gave her. Told from her husband and a homeless man, it shows the effect this married couple has on the homeless man and their community. It's truly beautiful and a remarkable true story about how God uses us places He calls us. Someone recommended this book to me and I have given this book to so many people to borrow. It's a story that you can't resist sharing. It truly shows the ups and downs of life and how God uses ordinary people for miracles.
