how to create your perfect gallery wall
You know what they say... New Year, new me, right? Let's try new room decorations. But yeah, hopefully new me too getting back into the whole blogging thing :)
I love changing up my room all the time and making decorations for my walls. Here's inside my gallery wall I've created and some tips for yours.
First off, my whole wall is based around one large center piece- for a long time it was a canvas but then I made a custom light up sign for the middle. Starting with one large piece you love helps bring it all together.
The wood pieces I also made myself & the watercolors as well. I loved using this diy marbled paper tutorial to create the "beautiful girl you were made to do hard things". Personally, I love collecting quotes on Pinterest and then either printing them or using them to make pieces to hang up on my walls.
After the main center piece, I love collecting prints & medium sized pieces to shuffle around the center piece. Some great places to look for prints are here and here. A free resource I love to look on is here. The elephant print I bought from an artist in Greenville, however I love these resources on Pinterest for free things to print out.
The dream catcher and arrow made nice statements around the edges. Hobby Lobby always has funky shapes and wall pieces that I love. Most gallery walls I see on Pinterest have frames- however I think with a bunch of sticky tac and no frames it's much easier to move things around. And a LOT cheaper than buying frames.
To fill in between spaces I love using coins, film strips, money from other countries, old tickets, post cards and photobooth strips. Anything small I like to hang on to- I love adding those to the wall. I also love hanging up art from friends- the eARTh is a card from a friend and the b&w print of me is from a friend's darkroom project. The Dylan O'Brien stencil is from a friend as well! The tree/map piece is from a former teacher. Overall I just love to collect things until I have enough to display them together!
I have some super old photos & have been meaning to print more. My favorite company to order prints from if I'm not using CVS is Social Print Studio. I've bought their squares, mini-squares, magnets- I LOVE their company. Their prints are beautiful.
I hope you enjoyed these little tips & ideas for your room. & let me know if you're interested in seeing a DIY for the light up sign :)
